The PSAT

The Practice SAT (PSAT) offers students the opportunity to prepare for College Assessment Exams their Senior Year. This test is offered in October and students who wish to take it should contact Mr. Rae (scott.rae@valleyadventistschools.org) to sign up by the middle of September. Placement is limited and offered on a first come, first served basis.

College Assessment Exams

Students who plan to continue on to college must take the ACT and/or SAT exams by their senior year. These tests assess high school students’ general educational development and their ability to complete college-level work. Many students struggle to decide whether to take the ACT or the SAT. This Princeton Review article gives an excellent summary of the differences between the exams. You will also need to know which colleges and universities should receive your results. Walla Walla University accepts both the ACT and the SAT for incoming freshmen and offers scholarships to students with outstanding scores.

ACT/SAT Test Preparation

If you plan to take the SAT, you can find a short assessment here to see if you have any areas that might need some work before the test date. Once you have completed the assessment, they provide links to site that will assist you in the areas you need to practice. To obtain a free SAT study guide or practice test you can either stop by the Academic VP’s office or you can download them here. If you plan to take the ACTyou can find the ACT test prep site here.

If you are taking either exam, this free site registration. You may receive email from them or their partnered organizations, but the reviews of their test prep are very positive and they have a good process for practice questions and brushing up in your weaker areas.

Finallythis site is offered by a scholarship search website. There are helpful articles, practice tests, test taking tips and other resources. The strength of this site is that it allows students offer suggestions to the site once they have completed their exams, which is extremely helpful to help out other students. We encourage your participation.
