July 2, 1942-November 29, 2017: John Deming, Friend of Jesus

John Murray Deming

July 2, 1942-November 29, 2017

The Faculty and Staff of Walla Walla Valley Academy are deeply saddened by the death of our colleague and friend, John Deming. John passed away last night at the age of 75 after a brief battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his family.  He is now sleeping in the embrace of God, waiting for the Trumpet call and the invitation to come and be with his Friend Jesus forever.  “Come, Lord Jesus.”

Mr. Deming had a profound impact on the lives of hundreds of students and their families, and was an encouraging, inspiring mentor to his faculty and staff. The respect he engendered in this community during his 21-year tenure on the Walla Walla Valley Academy Campus will remain vibrant for years to come.

“He was the guy who was always here, praying over every student individually,” says Steve Fuchs, Vice Principal for Finance. “He would pull you into his office to pray with you and check in on you. He genuinely cared about you on a deeply personal level and reflected God’s love in our lives. He was one of a kind, with boundless energy and a heart bigger than can be described. ”

The Academy is collecting anecdotes and memories of John for the family. If you would like to contribute, please email hinsel@wwva.org  or drop them by our office.

Please keep his wife Joan, sons John Michael, P.J., and Joel in your prayers. Funeral Arrangements are pending.
